The Story
Made by hand,
for hands to find.
Kuri is the Kannada word for sheep — for the curve of a fleece, the soft round it makes when it tucks itself into the ground. We wanted a pendant that did the same thing: a quiet round shape that gathers heat and softens light in the same gesture.
The shape is held by hand-cut cane, woven over a few days by one of two weavers we work with in Bengaluru. The interior fibre layer is what does the magic — when the bulb is lit, the shadows it casts on a wall or a floor have a soft petal pattern, like the silhouette of fingers cupped around a small flame.
Each piece is slightly different. They should be.
